Our story

We wanted more protein in the day without the shakes, the bars or the faff. Especially in the mornings.

We're Nic and Nick, best mates since school and still competitive about everything, golf most of all. Hensch started with the two of us sitting around a table, talking about that exact problem.

Nic's mum Lisa overheard. Years earlier she had written a simple idea on a scrap of paper and tucked it away. She dug it out and handed it over, and we knew straight away. We launched on 1 July 2026, Melbourne made and Melbourne owned.

What is collagen protein?

Collagen peptides are a protein. Hensch uses two kinds, bovine and marine collagen peptides at 23% each, which gives 15.5g of protein in every 30mL serve.

Can it go in a hot coffee?

Yes. We made it with Melbourne baristas to be stable under heat, so it goes straight into a fresh espresso, a latte or a batch brew.

Will I taste it?

It is unflavoured and made to disappear into coffee. Most of our reviewers say they can't taste it. One says it adds nice depth to a black coffee.

Do I need to stir it?

Yes, give it a quick stir. It is thicker than coffee, so it can sit at the bottom of the cup if you don't.

I'm allergic to fish. Can I have it?

No. Hensch contains marine collagen, which comes from fish. It also contains bovine collagen, so it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
